It's been a while... How have you been? I feel like I've been in a bit of a rut lately. With the ups and downs of COVID, I can't imagine that I'm alone in this feeling. I actually find that the more I share about my feelings the more I get "me toooooo" messages. I want everyone to know that they're not alone and life is weird right now. I was so excited to finally get to teach yoga in person and in studio again. It was a great few weeks while it lasted. Somehow, this new round of quarantine/shelter in place/outside is illegal feels so much more difficult than the first. One of the things that really helped me keep my sanity and feel a bit of normalcy in the chaos of the first quarantine was my morning routine.
Recently, I felt a bit uninspired with my instagram and facebook posts feeling like my only updates were class announcements. I took a bit of a break, but I want to be posting and engaging with you lovely humans. Like a perfect sign from the Universe, one of my favorite people, also a marketing expert, said she was trying to incorporate more yoga into her mornings and she wondered if I had the type of thing she was looking for. Turns out I didn't, but I was happy to take her suggestion. This planted the seed for this Morning Manifestation Project.
The goal of this Morning Manifestation Project is to help you (and me) create a morning routine with a little yoga and a lot of mindfulness. In my experience, anything that allows you to spend more time with yourself and your feelings is so beneficial for your mind, body, and spirit. So we are going to incorporate yoga asana, meditation, and journaling into our mornings every morning for two weeks beginning with the New Moon in July. And we're going to get it all done in 20-ish minutes!
The practice of yoga asanas (physical practice) helps us get in touch with out bodies. The more you practice yoga the more you'll notice about your body. You'll notice when you become more flexible, or notice where you're already flexible, or maybe you'll find a part of your body that, as my friend Sam put it, 'has never been stretched before'. There will be a 10 minute yoga video that you'll be able to find here on my website. This will be our first step of our Morning Manifestation.
The meditation can look like whatever you'd like for it to. I use the Insight Timer app. I like to meditate while lying down, and I like guided meditations. In a guided meditation someone is talking through the entire thing so this helps me keep my mind focused. You can mediate however you'd like. This may be praying, or singing, or dancing, or painting. It can be anything that helps you calm your mind from constant chatter. This will take 5 minutes and will be our second step of our Morning Manifestation.
Journaling is like having a conversation with my heart. My journaling is sometimes just me talking about my day and what I have planned. Sometimes my journaling is just me writing about how I feel, or my dreams. Just like mediation, I'm going to tell you that there is no wrong way to journal. I have been planning to host a journaling workshop, but that's for later in life. During this project I will be giving you a daily journaling prompt via an instagram post. I haven't planned these yet, but you may also get some inspirational quotes or affirmations. You'll spend 5 minutes journaling and this will be our third and final step of our Morning Manifestation.

Why the New Moon?
New moons are the beginning of the moon cycles, and this is the phase where we set intentions. You can think of this as planting seeds. Over the next two weeks during the waxing phases steps are taken to help these intentions become reality. You can think of this as tending your garden. At the end of the two weeks we will be at the Full Moon, and during the Full Moon you should be able to see the results of your hard work. This is where your garden is full bloom and you can enjoy the fruits of your work.
